One of the tools I use for my projects never touches the wood!  It's my PC.  Many of the things I build are done on the computer first so that I can get a sense of the finished product (in case I'm having trouble visualizing it).  Doing the design on the computer offers me the ability to layout the cuts ahead of time and get a good idea of how much material I'm going to need prior to picking up a saw. So another step forward for the old lathe I'm reviving!  I got the motor turning the other day with a scrap piece of pine in the jaws...so I decided to try it out. As you can see...the soft wood and the grain direction were not my friend, but hey...it was my very first time EVER using a wood lathe so I wanted to see what the different tools would do. Facebook Marketplace can be a great thing sometimes.....in this case, I found this Power King Lathe in my area.  Price.....$25!  Motor works and the bearings are all free and smooth..... So now I can get to learning how to turn wood! :)
